How We Worship

The Diocese of the Central and Western States of the Anglican Province of America faithfully offers her members a life of prayer rooted in Holy Scripture and the Sacraments.

We worship according to the 1928 American Book of Common Prayer, American Missal, Anglican Missal in the American edition, 1662 Book of Common Prayer, 1662 Book of Common Prayer (International Edition), Reformed Episcopal Church Book of Common Prayer (2006 Edition), 2019 Book of Common Prayer (Contemporary and Traditional), An Anglican Prayer Book (Prayer Book Society, 2008), and the Anglican Service Book. We celebrate the Eucharist facing either eastward (ad orientem) or westward (ad populum). We use the traditional hymns and psalter of the English Church.

Accepted Bible translations for worship and devotional use include the Authorized Version (King James), English Standard Version (ESV), New King James Version (NKJV), and the Revised Standard Version (RSV). Both the one year and three year lectionaries are used, as well as a variety of hymnals, including the 1940 Hymnal, 1982 Hymnal, 2017 Book of Common Praise (REC), and Magnify the Lord - A 21st Century Anglican Hymnal
